Application Description
Connect with colleagues and co-workers using LinkedIn based on proximity. The Link iPhone app turns your phone into an iBeacon, broadcasting your LinkedIn public profile url using new Bluetooth 4.0/LE/SMART technology. The app also allows you to discover others profiles, browse their profiles and connect through LinkedIn invitations.
Requirements: App requires an iPhone 5, 5c or 5s with iOS 7. Will work on a newer iPod touch (make sure it has Bluetooth 4.0LE capability).
Features:
- uses Oauth to authenticate with LinkedIn (LINK DOES NOT STORE PASSWORDS),
- broadcasts only your LinkedIn public profile url (all privacy controls through LinkedIn are respected),
- personal contact details ARE NOT broadcast to others, only the profile URL,
- broadcasts in the background,
- when links are discovered, you can
o send LinkedIn connection request,
o send private message through LinkedIn Messages,
o add them to your contacts,
o save for later.
Use cases:
1) replaces business card exchange: you are in a meeting with customers or clients and the first thing you usually do is to exchange business cards. What do you do with these cards?
With Link, you will "discover" the profiles of the others at the meeting and Link will save them for later perusal. Later, you can connect with them, or add them to your contacts with notes. Link saves the profiles, picture, and degree of connections, and even the location where you met.
2) stores people you meet at conferences: When you go to a conference you will meet many people and have many interesting conversations, but after the conference, you may find it hard to remember which conversation you had with whom.
Link saves these contacts so that you can later connect with the people.
