Light Art App enables anyone with an iPad and a projector to create their own colorful projection mapped installations using basic projection mapping principles. Based on the Sku Lights concept developed by Erick Calderon, Light Art allows the user to project on a variety of individual surfaces and control the content in real time. The visual effect is achieved by projecting exclusively on the desired surfaces with the remaining portions of the installation remaining dark.

Check out videos from our most recent installations at youtube.com/lightartinteractive

The app can be used to create visually stunning projection mapped installations for parties, stage lighting for bands and DJs, art installations, corporate events, trade shows, and more simply using colors. This app does not allow you to import your own content. Instead the color spectrum is generated internally and it allows you to control the way that it is displayed with a variety of tweaks.

Light Art makes projection mapping easy. Simply choose a surface or surfaces to project onto and add polygons in the app for each surface you are working with. Then, while watching the projector output drag your polygon in the app onto the physical polygon you're projecting onto and adjust the corners in the app to line up with the corners in real life. That's it! You'll be impressed at how easy it is to create interactive and colorful installations.

You'll also enjoy coming up with cool surfaces to project onto. The original Sku Lights concept uses a design called a MaraCube which can be arranged in infinite patterns for your projection mapping pleasure. They're available for purchase pre-made or you can download the stencil to make your own. Just visit our web site lightartinteractive.com for more information.

For ultimate results please read the entire instruction manual on our web site. You'll find some good tips to help you refine your projects like how to set coordinates and information about locking your polygons. REMEMBER TO ALWAYS LOCK YOUR POLYGONS!

Once you're done with setting up the polygons play with the control buttons that allow you to change the appearance of the installation including the color spread (distance) as well as speed and pattern (rows, columns, diagonal, linear). There is even a reverse button!

Finally PLEASE post your projects by using the hashtags #lightart, #lightartapp, and #projectionmapping. Let me know what you're doing by tagging me in your instagram posts with @calderockandroll.

Exciting things are coming in the world of projection mapping! Light Art App is a way for you to get your feet wet and get started. You'll love how easy it is to make professional looking light art installations! And this is only the beginning, look for awesome new features and controls to be implemented as we continue developing the Light Art interactive projection mapping platform.

NOTE: Light Art requires a projector and an adapter to connect the projector to your iOS device!
