Welcome to the Liberation Route. The Liberation Route is a journey full of experiences along the historic route followed by the Allies through Brabant and Gelderland in their liberation of Europe. In September 1944, the Allies launched Operation Market Garden. This operation failed, but the south of the Netherlands was liberated. After Operation Market Garden, the Allies again became involved in violent fighting with German troops in what has become known as the Battle of Overloon.
