This drive that begins at Calgary and takes one through the Highwood and Kananaskis Valleys is a wonderful introduction to Alberta’s foothills and mountains. It includes the classic and historic ranching country of the lower Highwood along Highway #541, the spectacular peaks of the Upper Highwood, Highwood Pass (the highest point in Canada that can be reached on a paved highway), the high mountains and lakes of the upper Kananaskis Valley, and the lower sections of the Kananaskis with its own group of fine peaks and special character.
