After working with children with learning disabilities, John Birdsall trained as a teacher then as a photographer.
In 1985, he established the photographic department at Nottingham Community Arts Centre, bringing photography into the local community. Designer Clare Marsh joined John in 1989 and together they have successfully developed the award-winning John Birdsall Social Issues Photo Library.
The collection features images of Children (including adoption & Fostering), Cuba, Disability, Education, Environment, Health, Housing & Homelessness, India, Old Age, Spain, Transport, Work, & Young People.
