iSEE iHEAR is a video frame app for the home to be played much like “background noise” of a television. Watching the piece in one sitting is meditative, but iSEE iHEAR was also edited to be viewed or glanced at in passing.

The two narrators are from the Keweenaw Peninsula in the Upper Peninsula in Michigan. They are describing what they are seeing. In the case of the gentleman, he is the local grave-digger describing where he works. The woman is a painter and she is describing a painting she made of the local landscape.
All the sounds in the piece are from the area. Because Lake Superior surrounds the Keweenaw Peninsula its influence on the weather and the mood of each day is immeasurable. iSEE iHEAR in a small way tries to capture that.

This video is a demonstration of how the app works in situ. The gentleman in the video is reading a book by noted U.P. author Jim Harrison

In addition to the eleven minute video, the app includes a ledger app-booklet and a selection of glass-plate portraits of people from the Keweenaw at the turn of the 20th century. Also included in the piece are twelve signed landscape photo prints from the video mounted in the same framework as the iPad. The full app is available in an addition of one.
