iPlayAlong is the application for any musician seeking a convenient and practical method of learning to improvise. With a combination of music theory and a backing band, this application will challenge and inspire musicians of all ages and levels to delve into the creative side of playing an instrument. Combine this concept with the technology of the iPod and iPhone you will find a winning combination of education, performance, and technology.

The application consists of an advanced media player and note animation module that focuses on specific sets of music chords; the musician will be able to learn which musical tones are best to use over a specific chord when improvising. Each module is accompanied by a corresponding musical track consisting of piano, bass and drums. The track lasts approximately 3 minutes and allows the musician to become comfortable with improvising over the featured chord(s). While the track is playing, the chord (and its corresponding reference tones) display on the screen.
