Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) is a specific form of chronic, progressive fibrosing interstitial pneumonia of unknown cause, occurring mostly in older, smoker adults, which is limited to the lungs and associated to a istopathologic and/or radiologic pattern of Usual Interstitial Pneumonia (UIP).
It is characterized by poor prognosis: thus, making a correct diagnosis of IPF is crucial for offering to the patient the only new treatments that have showed some efficacy.

iPF-Dx is an application created for helping clinicians in the diagnostic approach to idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.
It will guide you through a diagnostic algorithm based on the recent ATS (American Thoracic Society)/ERS (European Respiratory Society) Guidelines for the diagnosis and management of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, bearing in mind that the accuracy of diagnosis of IPF increases with clinical, radiologic, and histopathologic correlation and can be accomplished with a multidisciplinary discussion among experienced clinical experts in the field of Interstitial Lung diseases (ILDs).
