SafePlans' Intruder Vulnerability Assessment app provides parents, teachers, and school administrators a tool to easily assess a school's vulnerability to human based threats; such as an active shooter.

This app provides general overview of vulnerabilities associated with human-based threats but the app does not measure risk of an intruder-based incident. Risk is determined by the severity of hazards / threats and measures taken to offset those hazards / threats.

SafePlans’ Intruder Vulnerability Assessment is based on key areas that are likely to prevent / mitigate human-based threats and improve response activities should a human-based threat occur. Because not all emergency planning or security efforts are equal, the intruder vulnerability assessment assigns a multiplier value to each question. The scoring guide / rubric for each question associates example responses with a score. The scoring guide / rubric may be used in the development of a corrective action plan to identify starting points of increasing a facility’s intruder vulnerability score.
