The way people think about a particular experience impacts current mood and how they think about future experiences. Created for use by deployed soldiers, Mental Armor Training serves to enhance soldiers' abilities to form accurate interpretations of the events they experience during deployment and in every day life. For best results, program levels should be completed at least three times per week.

Each time a user logs on to the program, he or she will complete a series of short exercises designed to improve judgment during stressful situations. As users work through the program, they will encounter four levels of training. In program Levels 1 and 3, the task is to complete specific cognitive training exercises. In Level 2, the task involves applying the training to personal experiences. After completing the first three levels, users may choose between two options: to end the session or to complete extra training exercises. These training exercises are similar to those in Levels 1 and 3. Users may complete as many practice sessions they wish. Once the user terminates the program, the session will end and session data is saved. When the user returns to the program, he or she will have to log in again.

This program was created in collaboration with research teams at the Central Arkansas Veterans Health System, the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Health Care System, and Virtual Reality Medical Center and is part of a study with U.S. Army National Guardsmen to determine physiological and cognitive interventions during overseas deployment. Please note that this program is not intended to be used for diagnosis or treatment of any mental or physical condition.
