Application Description
IDCheck is a mobile phone app that allows you to turn your smartphone into an identification scanner. Most ID scanners on the market today utilize the magnetic strip located on the back of some ID cards. Only 19 states in the US currently utilize the magnetic strip on their most recent licenses, however all 50 states and most Canadian Provinces incorporate the PDF-417 2D barcode used by IDCheck. Any ID that conforms with AAMVA standards can be scanned. No internet connection is required (except for the use with a premium account, see below).
IDCheck was designed to be used at businesses conducting the sale of age controlled items such as alcohol and tobacco and by law enforcement / security / police officers in their daily duties.
IDCheck has built in checks that are updated based on current intelligence related to fake IDs. These checks also verify that the identification card is not expired.
A simple scan of the barcode on the back of the ID card shows the persons age, status of the ID and the information contained on the front of the card.
After version 2.0 IDCheck also checks for duplicate scans of the same ID to prevent the passing of valid IDs to multiple persons.

This feature does require an internet connection on the target device in order to save scans. The online account also provides the additional functionality of adding scans to a VIP or BAN list, that is shared between all devices connected to the same account.
