iColumn can be used for the design or checking of Concrete Columns on the iPhone or iPod Touch. iColumn is a fast, flexible but powerful tool which allows the user complete control of all the input. The user has complete control of size of column, quantity of rebar, distribution of rebar, rebar size, strength of concrete and reinforcing steel, edge distance, and tie size. The user only has to touch any of these values to make a change. The program checks for percentage of steel (both maximum and minimum), spacing limits between bars, tie spacing, additional tie requirements, and many others per ACI 318-08. After the input is adjusted an Interaction Diagram is drawn which has the options of showing both the factored and un-factored curve. The diagram can show just compression curve or combined compression and tension curve. Values for the Control Points can be seen by clicking on the Control Points. User loads can be added by inputing the Axial load and Moment. The point will be checked to see if it is under the curve.
