Clinical Looking Glass (CLG) is a unique decision support tool. In use at Montefiore Medical Center since 2002, CLG
• Turbo-charges QI through its unprecedented ability to analyze health care data
• Democratizes the analytic process by allowing the clinical team to navigate clinical databases when and how they want without IT staff involvement
• Transforms the culture, excites the staff, and enables award winning changes in care delivery
Clinical Looking Glass (CLG) is a patented software tool designed to time-effectively marshal massive amounts of data in order to create new abilities to vastly improve patient care, enable medical centers to improve financial performance, and expose opportunities for achieving breakthroughs in clinical practice. The tool is called Clinical Looking Glass for a reason: it allows physicians and medical centers to be self-reflective, to use data to drive continuous quality improvement.
The CLG idea grew out of a dedicated practitioner's drive for information which could possibly control the rampant spread of tuberculosis and HIV at Rikers Island, a correctional facility in New York City.
Convinced of the power of sophisticated data analysis, the CLG idea found fertile territory to evolve at the Montefiore Medical Center and the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. With more than 700 people trained, 400 active users, and a commitment by the Montefiore Medical Center to include it in its quality process and in its training program for internal medicine, Clinical Looking Glass has become an integral part of Montefiore's strategic focus on creating a data-driven culture to improve quality and the health of the community it serves.
Feature-rich and functionally powerful, CLG has been the foundation of success stories which could never before be told. Its creators are a team of visionary and skillful industry innovators, deeply steeped in patient care and medical practice.
