Application Description
iCasesCME™ is a CME-certified medical education activity and point-of-care practice tool. This unique CME learning platform is designed to improve patient care by addressing key practice and knowledge gaps in clinicians’ approaches to diagnosing and treating patients with a variety of diseases and conditions.
Our first series of activities are on chronic hepatitis B and were developed in conjunction with the Tufts University School of Medicine (TUSM) and Drs Hannah Lee and Geneve Allison. The series has been developed for primary care physicians (PCPs), physician assistants (PAs), nurse practitioners (NPs), gastroenterologists, infectious disease specialists, and other clinicians involved in the care of patients at risk for HBV.
KEY FEATURES of the app include:
• CME Cases: three 15-minute interactive vignettes that present common patient scenarios. Each case earns 0.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™ and takes on average about 15 minutes to complete.
• HBV FAQs: helpful answers to your patient’s questions about the disease, screening, and treatment
• RESOURCES: patient and clinician educational material that can be emailed or printed directly from your iPhone/iPad (with an Apple® AirPrint enabled printer)
AFTER COMPLETION of the three cases, participants will be able to:
• Identify specific patient groups within their practices that are at risk for HBV and require screening in a timely fashion
• Correctly interpret the results of multiple HBV testing modalities (including serological, molecular, and liver function test) in the settings of screening, diagnosis, and ongoing management of chronic HBV infection
• Review recent clinical evidence on new and emerging HBV treatment options and make effective therapeutic choices that conform to current guidelines and recent expert opinion
iCasesCME™ has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essentials Areas and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education through the joint sponsorship of TUSM and DKBmed, LLC.
Development has been supported by an independent medical education grant from Gilead Sciences Medical Affairs.
