Application Description
iCamilliani is the App that lets you discover the history and the places where a great and holy man, St. Camillus de Lellis (1550-1614), lived and worked.
Following a historical, artistic and spiritual path of exception, you will delve deeper into a fascinating journey in the company of the founder of the Order of the Regular Clerks Ministers of the Infirm (Camillians).
An all-accomplished figure, from soldier of fortune and card player to "Giant of charity", which has revolutionized the care of the poor and sick. The job of the nurse, until the first half of the sixteenth century, is done by mercenaries who actually don’t care for the very bad sanitary conditions in which the poor infirm are. Father Camillus gathers around him a Company of "pious and good" men, which serve the patiens not for money, but by faith and love for the suffering, "just like a loving mother with her only sick son does."
Departing from Rome, the city elected by the Saint for the birth of His Congregation, Camillus and the Camillians, formidable travellers, go throughout Italy (and today in the world) to spread the new Order and the new concept of care for the infirm, also held in risking their own lives.
The new version of iCamilliani, completely free, adds to the route discovering the Camillian places of Rome some routes from Bucchianico, home town of St. Camillus de Lellis, that touch many resorts throughout Italy where the Saint has stayed, operated and left tangible and deep traces. Among the others, a Camillian route in Milan and one in Palermo.
Moreover, you will find other useful and interesting extras like the second issue of The Mission, a series of photographic reports about the Camillian work all over the world made by Guillermo Luna, and the walking route from Bucchianico to Rome, complete with geolocation, information and suggestions about the best route and where to stay.
Finally, you will be able to listen to the complete and detailed audio-guide of all the points of the Church of Saint Mary Magdalene in Campo Marzio.
