"Paper and pen at the range? Unnecessary. Gun Log lets you store all your firearm data…", American Warrior, issue Number 5.

Gun Log isn't a list or simple inventory app. Gun Log tracks failures, rounds fired, costs, accessories, and even can calculate a ballistics drop table.

Gun Log stores firearm inventory, ammunition inventory, and shooting results.

Gun Log will never allow email to access the data, use printing, or use cloud storage, just as promised. Many users are careful about where their private data is stored and Gun Log was made for those. It was promised that those features would never be added and that is the way it will be. Please be aware of this policy, it has always been this way.

------------------------
Gun Log versus Gun Log SPC
------------------------

The differences are:

Gun Log runs on 4.2 and later. Gun Log SPC is for iOS 5.1 and higher.

While all of the apps run on iPad and have been checked that changing orientation works on iPad and iPhone/iPod, Gun Log SPC has more views that have been specifically customized to take advantage of the iPad screen size.

Gun Log SPC can print and email, Gun Log does not.

Gun Log SPC has has a "Report" button on nearly every view in the app. This is because Gun Log SPC can print and email the data (remember Gun Log does not export data).

Completely two separate code bases. For you developers out there, there are two separate projects, no shared files, no shared targets, nothing. This creates a burden on me to maintain two code bases, but it keeps the promise that Gun Log will not export data and will not have code in it that could do so.

Gun Log is not a lite version except in printing, text reports, and email. Gun Log doesn't have the text reports because you can't send them anywhere. The tracking of ammo usage, group size, accessories, every feature except those mentioned are the same in both apps.

Gun Log SPC has expense reporting.

Gun Log is "feature" complete. It isn't changing, it is stable, and it does what it says it will do. Gun Log SPC is getting features, usually in the reporting category, does what it says it will do, and will continue to be enhanced.

The similarities are:

Gun Log and Gun Log SPC do not use iCloud.

You can transfer your data between devices manually via iTunes.

Both are designed to be range logs.

Both apps track firing sessions, failures, maintenance, accessories, firearms, ammunition, generate reports, perform simple ballistic calculations for drop tables, etc.
