THE HISTORY OF GETRIDE
GetRide was founded in 2003 (under the TaxiPass brand), long before Uber, Hailo, myTaxi or GetTaxi gained popularity in the US. However, it was a pure payments system for ground transportation providers until the founders decided to expand the operating model beyond swiping credit cards to include booking & paying through your smart phone like Uber or Hailo. Today you can use your cell phone to book a cab in 10,000 cities in the US through our transportation marketplace.
ABOUT OUR COMPETITORS
In America there are many different local fleets that offer rides (for example Yellow Cab, Hailo, Uber, and Lyft). However, these fleets and their applications do not cover 80% of the US population like GetRide does. Uber only offers taxi service in 5 US cities. Hailo covers 4 cities and Lyft only 12 cities. How does GetRide do it? Instead of creating a new local fleet by opening up a local brick and mortar office, GetRide directly connects existing taxi and limo drivers and fleets. Think of us like a Hotels.com for ground transportation. In fact, many Uber, Hailo and Yellow Cab fleet drivers are already on the GetRide. Since drivers are independent contractors, they can market their services with multiple fleets.
