Overview
GeoPedia is a travel, reference and educational application providing a browsable, searchable database of cities and towns located in each country. GeoPedia uses geonames.org reverse geocoding to locate Wikipedia articles and local points of interest near your current location or any city in the GeoPedia database. GeoPedia will search for Flickr photos near your current location or from any city in the GeoPedia database. You can browse a gallery of thousands of publicly available pictures. GeoPedia will perform Local Search to find a nearby business or organization by category or by name. GeoPedia can display directions to or from any geocoded location.

Browse thousands of Flickr photos taken near your current location or photos taken in and around the city you plan to visit. Once you have found an interesting geocoded photo, GeoPedia will retrieve a summary of the photo, display the location of the photos on the integrated map or launch Google maps to display directions from your current location to the location the photo was taken. Google street view is also available for many photo location.

The GeoNames geographical database contains millions of geographical names, unique features and populated places. GeoPedia allows you to select from 7 GeoName classes in order to find points of interest near your current location or in and around the city you plan to visit. GeoNames integrates geographical data from various sources. All lat/long coordinates are in WGS84 (World Geodetic System 1984).
