Application Description

This app lets you to send your current location to your web server using a simple HTTP GET request.

NOTE: This app is not for the casual iPhone user, but for those who know how to program websites of their own. This is not by itself a location tracker or a location frontend for a social network. (There are many fine apps in this store for that!) GeekLocLog is for those who'd like to build a realtime location aware web project on their own. It's for those who are a little bit of a a Computer Geek.

The following variables are available to be passed to the web server:
$lat — latitude
$lng — longitude
$haccuracy — horizontal accuracy (m)
$elevation — elevation (m)
$vaccuracy — vertical accuracy (m)
$timestamp — timestamp of the location update (seconds since 1970-1-1)
$update_frequency — minimum number of seconds between updates
$clock — system clock at the time of sending the update (seconds since 1970-1-1)
plus user defined fields!

GeekLocLog does not magically turn your iPhone into a military grade GPS receiver. Its “DIY” approach to things does not imply that it is a toy, either. Do make sure your particular requirements are met by the app’s and your iDevice’s GPS accuracy, reliability and its network capabilities.

Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life.

See the www.geekloclog.com website for more information and example programs.
