Shri Ganesha who is elder son of Lord Shiva and goddess Parvati, is also known as Ganapati and Vinayaka. He is one of the most widely worshipped deities in Hindu religion. Ganesha is god of knowledge and remover of obstacles. He is regarded as god of new beginnings, intellect and wisdom.

Ganeshji is one of the easiest gods to be identified amongst hundreds of hindu deities because he has an elephant's head and a big belly. His vahana (vehicle) is a small mouse.
