THE DESIGN INSPIRATION
"Mosaics are a form of independent art expression and have taken many compositions over the years – from clays and pebbles to marbles and glass, the mosaic preserves charm of arrangement through forms and fragmentation of colors. Unlike the hardness and resistance of the traditional material of a mosaic, which have always been selected to weather the elements, Fortuny has turned the concept of a mosaic into something soft and warm, while still maintaining the same benefits of being a mosaic and the many opportunities it presents to clients with what they can do to it. When one first sees a mosaic, it can seem strange, yet after taking in the different shapes and colors, viewers are seduced by an unexpected warmth, and slowly the eye lingers on the tesseras (tiles) to discover tiny universes within the nuances. Fortuny Mosaics are intended exclusively for widespread decorative use, from powder rooms to bedrooms. Additionally, Fortuny Mosaics create a comfortable sound proof ambiance, while also adding continuity to upholstered pieces in rooms.
