Application Description
This application was designed by a pilot, with your safety in mind, to assist you in evaluating the potential safety/risk for your flight.
This app will assist in making the “go or no go” decision a simple one. This is accomplished by an easy selection of 1 though 4 in each of the following categories: Pilot, Aircraft, Environment, Duration and Urgency. The result will give you your total flight risk number. This number will help determine the flight safety potential.
The calculations are based on the FAA’s acronym and formula PAEDU (Pilot, Aircraft, Environment, Duration and Urgency) and the AOPA’s (Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association) Air Safety Foundation “Flight Risk Evaluator” along with the FAA’s IM SAFE Checklist.
I recommend that you take the AOPA’s Air Safety Foundation’s “Flight Risk Evaluator” course for more information. Another excellent source of information is the FAA Safety Team’s IM SAFE checklist and documentation.
