FEPS is the European progressive political foundation

The only progressive think tank at European level, FEPS establishes an intellectual crossroad between social democracy and the European project, putting fresh thinking at the core of its action. As a platform for ideas, FEPS works in close collaboration with social democratic organisations, and in particular national foundations and think tanks across Europe to tackle the challenges that Europe faces today. Close to the Party of European Socialists (PES) and the S&D Group in the European Parliament but nevertheless independent, FEPS embodies a new way of thinking on the social democratic, socialist and labour scene in Europe.


“Queries” FEPS Scientific magazine:
FEPS Scientific Magazine “Queries” offers quarterly academic reflections on the fundamental political dilemmas of contemporary times. Outstanding researchers and leading politicians, whose respective expertise shape each issue, provide innovative and provocative analyses. As such, this interdisciplinary and international dialogue aims to establish a distinctive progressive narrative.


Various FEPS publications in book format:
Usually the books are edited in close cooperation with FEPS member national Foundations and think tanks or close working partners. Covering different topics but following the four working pillars of FEPS which are currently:
- Next Left: Re-thinking the core of social-democracy to shape a better future for all
- Gender Diversity & Democracy: Re-storing trust in politics and promoting a true European space for debate
- Sustainable Economy: Re-building progressive economy to foster a new model of development
- Global Solidarities: Re-inventing international relations and the role of the EU in the world



FEPS Next Left book series:
FEPS “Next Left” book series mirror the profound debate on the future of progressivism in Europe and worldwide. the observations on challenges which social democracy is facing today are embedded in the research on the multifaceted global predicament. This broader perspective enables to redefine the mission of the centre-left to serve the society of the 21st century.


FEPS “Fresh Thinking” magazine:
Fresh Thinking is the European progressive magazine produced quarterly, each focusing on a different topic. It aims to bridge the gap between citizens, politicians, civil society representatives and other stakeholders and is produced in cooperation with journalists. The magazine often contains contributions from renowned international authors from a variety of disciplines who give political, economic, scientific and cultural insights into issues related to Europe.
