The Family Helix App is a simple application that allows you to keep a copy of your Family Health History on your iPhone or iPod touch.

In order for you to use this application you must first create and save a Family Health History for yourself on the Family Helix web site (history.familyhelix.org). You can also create an initial Family Health History on the My Family Health Portrait site provided by the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services (familyhistory.hhs.gov), that can then be stored on the Family Helix web site.

Family Helix is a nonprofit organization that provides an online tool to help people collect and securely store their family health information, which is an essential tool to assess disease risk, motivate behavior change, and understand personal health.

Your family health information is stored on this free service totally securely - you create your own password to secure your information, which only you know.

Once you have stored your Family Health History with the online tool at the Family Helix .org website you can use this companion iPhone App to download your Family Health History to your iPhone or iPod touch and then you will always have it handy when you need it to show your Doctor, your genetic counsellor, or other family member when the need for access to your Family Health History arrises.

As you learn more information about your familys health or as things change, you can return to familyhelix.org and log in with your email address and your password to update your information and then download a new version of your history to your iPhone or iPod touch.
