The Canterville Ghost is a story written by Oscar Wilde in 1887. It is a parody of horror stories in which an American minister Hiram B. Otis moved with his family to a haunted castle in England. Lord Canterville, the previous owner of the castle, he warns that the ghost of Sir Simon de Canterville swarming around the castle since he killed his wife, Lady Eleonore de Canterville. But Mr. Otis ignores his warnings. Thus, the American family of Mr. Hiram B. lives in the house, constantly taunting the ghost due to the indifference of these to the paranormal occurrences. Al contrario, intentan "combatirlo" utilizando productos (detergentes, aceite para sus cadenas); sin embargo su vida nunca es alterada, a pesar de los esfuerzos que lleva a cabo el fantasma.
