DirectSync gives you the ability to export your current iOS device contacts to a computer, or to import contacts from a computer to your iOS device using a USB connection and iTunes "File Sharing". DirectSync also allows you to completely purge your contacts database on your iOS device whenever you want to begin from a clean slate.

DirectSync works with standard vCard file formatted contact information (.vcf files) for both import and export operations. vCard file format is universally compatible with most contact and address book applications, including "Contacts" (Mac) and "Outlook" (PC).

To transfer contact information to your iOS device, just export your contacts in vCard format, copy the resulting file to the DirectSync app on your iOS device, then launch DirectSync and import your contacts. Reverse the operation to export iOS contact information to your computer.
