Directions is a simple application for keeping track of your favorite locations and places. These could be everything from that really nice coffee place or that friend's house to where you parked your car earlier in the day. You can also take photos that gets added to the map as an annotation of where you took it. You can later look at it but also save it to your Photo Library.

You can easily send these locations* to friends using normal text messages (SMS). What happens is that the location gets converted into a hyperlink and then sent using the in app text message dialog. Once received on the other end the user just clicks on the link and it's automatically added in the "Directions" application.

You can also send your own current location. By doing this you and your friends can easily tell each other where you are. This can help in situations like: "Hey! We're downtown, come by for a drink". By ending that text message with a location link enables the receiver to know exactly where they are. The user interface will tell in what direction that location is at and also how far away it is. If you got a compass in your iPhone, an arrow will also show in what actual direction this location is at, in relation to where you are and how you're holding your device.
