Graham Lipscomb’s compelling word game, now in app form! Free sampler version (DICEWORDS-X) also available.

DICEWORDS is played with 9 special alphabetic dice. Each turn you have up to three rolls in which to build the highest-scoring word you can, so typically you keep some dice and re-roll the others, aiming to get the letters you need.

It’s best to have several word ideas in mind because you never know which letters will come your way. Longer words will usually score you more - and if you can use the rarer letters too (Q, X, Z ...etc), you can get huge scores!

But there’s much more to this game than lucky dice rolls. The on-screen ‘Dice Table’ shows you which dice contain which letters, so you can weigh up the odds of rolling particular combinations - and therefore use strategy to improve your chances.

DICEWORDS is for 1 to 8 players - and any number of player names can be stored, ready for use. The app takes care of the scoring, automatically prompting the next player to roll - and features an optional game clock & optional word-checker.

Also includes Dicewords-based puzzle to keep you occupied between games.

• Supports from 1 to 8 active players
• Any number of player names can be stored/shuffled for future use
• Suitable for age 8+
• Typical game time: 15 minutes per player
• Optional game clock
• Optional word checker (uses the iOS dictionary)
• Includes Dicewords-based puzzle
• Saves current game & puzzle, so you can continue later
