Application Description
Ferocia Solutions presents Descent, a freefall calculator guaranteed to help break the ice on those long, tedious flights. Engage and enthrall fellow passengers with an answer to the much pondered question,
"How long would it take to plummet to earth from here?"
Depending on an object's distance from the earth, gravitational pull tends to change, becoming stronger as the object descends and therefore causing an increase in velocity. Descent is designed to account for these changes, thereby offering the most accurate possible representation of the time it would take to freefall to the earth's surface and the speed you would be travelling upon impact.
To use Descent, simply enter your height above the Earth, using either Metric or Imperial units, and prepare to delight those around you with the answer to the question that is forefront in their minds. With entertainment like this, who needs an in-flight movie!
**Of special note**- Descent is calculated on the assumption that the earth is a perfect sphere with a radius of 6378.1 km. Please be aware that Descent's calculations do not take into account the gravitational pull of planetary systems other than Earth.
