Application Description
MPC Data Lab is a department of MPC (the Moving Picture Company,) a multi-award winning post-production and visual effects company.
The Data Lab provides support for all data-acquisition projects, and offers assistance and production management across all stages of your digital pipeline. Building on the strengths of MPC?s non-linear digital workflow and data management services, the state of the art facility also offers workflow consultancy, digital dailies, rushes for editors and a full range of digital transcoding for commercials, feature films and broadcast.
The MPC Data Rate Calculator app helps estimate data amounts for all stages of the shooting and post-production pipeline.
Digital Acquisition:
All commonly used high-end digital camera formats are supported, including RED, Phantom, SI-2K, EX-1, AVC, Canon 5D & 7D. Select a camera, frame rate and running time, to give the amount of data this will produce. Alternatively, select the data amount to give the running time.
Film Acquisition:
Select a film gauge, frame rate and running time to give the footage used. Or select the footage to give the running time.
Storage:
This tab enables you to calculate the amount of uncompressed media (TIFF, or DPX) from a given running time. Switching to this tab from either the Digital or Film Acquisition tabs allows you to convert between formats.
