Application Description
When verifying the authenticity of a bullion coin one usually checks the coin's weight and dimensions.
CoinTester adds another level of security by analyzing the sound the coin makes when struck and comparing it to a reference.
This allows the detection of tungsten alloys in gold coins and various alloys (e.g. brass) in silver coins.
The following coins are currently supported:
Gold:
• American Gold Buffalo
• American Gold Eagle
• Centenario (Mexican 50 Peso)
• Gold Maple Leaf
• Krugerrand
Silver:
• American Silver Eagle
• Silver Maple Leaf
• Vienna Philharmonic
CoinTester requires access to the microphone and will ask for permission the first time it's launched. If for some reason this does not work go into Settings-Privacy-Microphone and enable CoinTester.
Do not rely solely on the test results of this app. It is meant to be used in addition to the usual methods for verifying the authenticity of bullion coins.
Note that coins of different types can have similar reference frequencies. This is not an error.
