For me, metal detecting is the culmination of three great loves:

1. The joy of learning
2. The thrill of the hunt
3. And the elation of discovery

Bonus: Of course you have to include a love for gadgets

Coinshooter was created to enhance each of those aspects for metal detectorists. Whether you're a coin or treasure hunter, or a relic hunter, I hope you will find that Coinshooter does exactly that for you.

Over the several months that I have developed Coinshooter and used it in the field, I found that I wanted it to do certain things, in certain situations, whether it was researching locations while I waited in the car with the boys while my wife did some shopping, or email my wife a photo of my first silver, a 1906 Barber dime (that I scraped with a screw driver).

The Coinshooter app is a great companion to your metal detector and pin pointer!

FEATURES

The feature list grew based on what I found myself wanting to be able to do in the field and on-the-go. These weren't just "nice to have's". These were things that would make life easier and metal detecting even more fun. I wanted to be able to:

* Easily add locations by dropping a pin on a map, have the address geocoded and be able to search the web without typing anything (no typing required if the geocoder has a name for the location - most parks are in there)
* Easily add finds to a location/hunt without having to type Wheat Penny or mint mark S ever again
* Easily search the web for my find to see if that 1918 Merc was a key date (it wasn't)
* Easily email a photo of a find or location without have to re-type basic information - it's hard to type on those tiny screens when your hand is shaking. It was just a 1918 Merc, but it was my first one ;-)
* Easily tweet your photos!
* Easily get turn-by-turn driving directions (available on iOS devices that have this capability)
* Track when locations were founded, whether hunting is permitted, and other info
* Organize locations into collections - St. Louis has 111 city parks alone. The county has several dozen more, and the city and county have different digging regulations
* Map (or list) locations by collection or city/state or all locations
* View list of hunts for locations
* View, filter, summarize, and map all finds. Very flexible and strangely fun.
* Slice and dice your finds by location, month, year, find name, and favorites...then map them or view their photos in the Photo Browser!
* Browse all photos (for finds or otherwise) for a location
* Map (or list) all the finds for a location
* Track the VDI/TID and depth of finds for later analysis
* Export locations and finds so the could be viewed in a spreadsheet (Coinshooter can email CSV files for locations by collection, city or all, and finds by location, hunt or all)
* Export locations and finds and meta data (categories, find names, and other meta data that are used in the selection lists) so they can be imported to other devices that are running Coinshooter
* Export locations and finds as GeoRSS files that can be imported into a popular online mapping program

I hope you find Coinshooter easy to use and a truly valuable part of your kit. Visit fhound.com and let us know what you think.

** Important: As the maker of Coinshooter, I respect your privacy and value my integrity. NO information is sent to anyone without you expressly entering their email address and emailing it to them, or without you expressly selecting the Tweet Image button on the Photo Detail page and then tapping send (an action that only posts to Twitter the image and text you see in the Tweet screen). Maps and Web Search send and receive network data as you would expect in order for them to function. Your information is yours and yours alone. Coinshooter helps you share it, but only if you want to.
