Application Description
The Clinical Atlas of Intravascular Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) is the first comprehensive educational tool devoted exclusively to intravascular OCT.
Developed specifically for the iPad, The Clinical Atlas of OCT offers a rapid and interactive guidance to a systematic and scientifically critical interpretation of OCT images for interventional cardiologists, pathologists, and other physicians, technicians, trainees and research staff.
Conducted by Professor Patrick W. Serruys, Dr. Maria Radu, Dr. Lorenz Räber and Dr. Hector Garcia-Garcia, the team behind this publication includes several international well-renowned
experts and key opinion leaders within the field of intracoronary imaging and pathology.
The Clinical Atlas of Intravascular OCT includes eight separate chapters offering the following contents:
1. Principles of OCT
2. Artefacts
3. Atherosclerosis
4. Evaluation of metallic stents
5. 3D-OCT
6. Evaluation of bioresorbable scaffolds
7. Miscellaneous (vein grafts, peripheral vessels etc.)
8. New frontiers in OCT imaging
Among the special interactive features are zoom-in/out functions, on/off functions for bookmarks and annotations, and scroll-possibilities in selected pullbacks.
Altogether, the application includes >600 images put together in >250 high-quality figures, as well as several videos representing the entire clinical spectrum of OCT findings that may be encountered in the daily routine. To account for some of the drawbacks of OCT and to aid in the rationale for interpretation, many figures have additionally been complemented with either matched histology, or grey-scale and virtual histology-IVUS images. Wherever relevant, clinical history and angiograms have been added to provide an overview and correlation with the clinic.
The interpretation and applied terminology follows that of the consensus of the International Working Group on Standardization and Interpretation of OCT, and each chapter has been peer-reviewed by 2-3 independent reviewers.
