Application Description
No more little white book! Keep track of money spent on your cars from fuel to service items. CarStat can keep track of all your vehicles. Every time money is spent on your car, record it. CarStat can then provide information on miles per gallon, miles travelled, total cost of ownership, and other information. You can also set a start and an end date in order to compute the statistics. Starting with version 1.1, CarStat supports metric countries as well. If you are in a country the iPhone OS classifies as metric, Carstat uses kilometers and liters (and the local currency). Version 1.2 will add better support for users in mixed-unit countries (users will be able to specify on a car-by-car basis if it should be miles/kilometers and gallons/liters). Cheaper than a gallon of gas!
Note-1: In order to not experience data loss like mentioned in the SmeggyDenver review, be sure to synchronize with iTunes BEFORE updating to a new CarStat version. This goes for any application, not just CarStat (it's an Apple issue, apparently). Apologies for any inconvenience. I have not heard of any issues since iTunes 8 and iPhone OS 2.1 has been released.
Note-2: A couple of reviewers have noted computational inaccuracies. Please email the exact numbers being used. One reviewer admitted the mistake was on his end. I of course use the computation outlined in Overclocker's review, but under some conditions something might be off. Also note that in Riled's review, if you do forget to note the odometer reading, as long as you get the correct number of gallons or liters (which will be on the receipt) and the correct odometer reading for the _next_ fill-up, the mpg or L/100K reading will be correct at that point.
