Virtual tour to the exhibition CAMERINOS by Sergio Parra.
Camerinos (dressing rooms) is a collection of portraits taken minutes before going on stage. A project by Spanish photographer Sergio Parra, the collection gathers around 60,000 photos taken in the past 12 years. A selection of these has been compiled to reveal the beauty, the power and the feelings that drama inflicts.
The photos portray the actors in the intimacy of their dressing room. They are putting their make-up on, concentrating before the show. It’s the fascinating transformation of the actor into character. Spanish and international artists, from Nuria Espert to Ralph Fiennes, accepted being photographed as they went over last minute details, thus revealing a truly unknown aspect to the audience.
Taken in several Spanish theaters, the portraits depict the atmosphere as it is. The light, the distribution of objects, the imprint that years of acting leave on the face, everything is left untouched in a documentary-like attempt to capture the ritual that preceeds each performance.
The exhibition includes the projection of 500 unknown pictures where the transformation process is revealed in detail.
A book has been published containing these and other portraits and mate- rial like the complete series for some of the subjects.
It truly bears witness and memory to the Spanish performing arts panorama of the last decade.

Una colección de retratos de actores preparándose para salir a escena realizada a lo largo de los últimos 12 años. A partir de un archivo de más de 60.000 imágenes se han seleccionado medio centenar para su exhibición llenas de belleza, fuerza y sentimiento.
Todas las fotografías se han tomado minutos antes de la representación, en la intimidad del camerino, mientras el intérprete se maquilla y concentra, en el momento en el que se produce la fascinante transformación de persona a personaje. Artistas españoles e internacionales, desde Nuria Espert a Ralph Fiennes, aceptaron ser retratados mientras ultimaban en camerinos su salida al escenario, mostrando una faceta desconocida a los espectadores.
