This is our 4th lesson, Part 2, for learning English. It has a lesson, and a game.

We review some of Book & Ball 3, Book & Ball 2 and Book & Ball 1, but with new patterns. New words and sentences are taught as well, continuing to focus on objects and actions around the child’s home.

So far, the child has learned to connect, and describe, some of the people, rooms, objects, actions and foods in her home. The sentences have already become longer and more varied.

The lengthy review-sections tie “I” into already-acquired patterns (“I am in the bathroom.”), and tie old knowledge together (“Mother is in the kitchen.”, “Grandmother is writing.”). We continue exercising the distinction between “I”, “It”, “He” and “She” (“She is getting dressed.”, “He is washing the dishes.”, “It is a fridge.”)

Even more than before, we make much use of the previous lessons. So, they have to have been well exercised, already. This is a pattern that will continue in the coming lessons, too, of course.



Now, we introduce questions, negation (“not”) and feelings.

The child will learn how to ask a basic question (“What is it?”), and how to use “not” (“I am not a grandfather.”). We also teach basic feelings such as happiness and hunger (“She is sleepy.”), to add to her ability to describe herself and others.



This is a lengthy app, with over forty pages in the lesson and, so, over forty pages in the game. The child should take her time, not rush through. Spend a few weeks on this, at a relaxed pace, letting the child find her way back to the app whenever she feels like playing with it.

As always, we show only words which can be built with. Our focus is on listening & speaking; the child must say the words aloud every time.

As always, all lessons build on past apps. The child needs to have really practised the previous apps before starting this one!
