Big Read Dallas
Detailed App Info:
Application Description
This interactive app allows you to read along with The Big Read Dallas, a community service project designed to immerse Dallas in a shared reading experience, with a specific focus on ninth- and tenth-grade Dallas ISD students.
The current book selected is Ray Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451, which depicts the frightening dystopia of a world without books. Fahrenheit 451 explores the themes of courage, censorship, free speech, and the value of literature. The Big Read D app encourages and facilitates the entire city to read—and talk about—this book and these ideas in personally and socially relevant ways.
The Big Read D app also allows the user to:
• Track pages with your own burning book
• Compare your pages read with other readers citywide
• See local event listings
• Find participating local book stores
• Watch videos
• Sign up to be a Big Read Dallas Volunteer
