Brainwave entrainment (sometimes also called brainwave synchronization), is a practice of intentionally causing EEG brainwaves to move to a specific frequency by exposing the sensory system to a dominating external stimulus.

The purpose of attempting brainwave entrainment is to bring one's mind into a preferred state. For example, during deep meditation, an individual may want their mind to be optimally primed for relaxation.
