Application Description
AstroNav, the one-stop solution to finding your position with celestial bodies.
***Now available as free lite version with reduced functionality***
Use this app in conjunction with its inbuilt sextant or a commercial one to find your position on Earth at any time.
All you need is the Sun, Moon, a star or planet in the sky and a steady hand.
You do not even need a sextant to use this app as this functionality is built in and can give you accuracies to within a degree with practice, which is good enough to give your position to a few miles.
(Note that the Lite version is not as accurate as the Full version)
It is of course not a replacement to the iPhones ability to find your location nor is it as accurate, but this is how sailors and explorers used to navigate for hundreds of years and it gives a tremendous feeling of achievement to find your location with only a few celestial bodies!
