For the first time ever, the Villa News & Record is being released as a digital edition. Inside you can expect to find all the great features of the printed version, as well as content exclusive to the digital edition – all optimised for your tablet device.

The new concept is the latest innovation for a programme which has been regarded as one of the finest in the country for the past 107 years.

It first saw the light of day in September 1906, for the opening home fixture against Blackburn Rovers. Villa won 4-2 that day – and the programme has remained a winner ever since.

Always packed with interesting features and information, it took on a magazine format during the 1970s and has steadily grown to its current 76 pages.

Now it is moving into the digital age, which will make our popular publication more accessible than ever.

Whether you’re unable to attend the game or simply looking for something more convenient, the digital programme is the answer. Videos, audio bites, image galleries and more will be used to enhance the experience as much as possible, and we will continue to improve the features as the season goes on.

Apart from the striking cover design, the digital News & Record will be packed with interesting material and outstanding photos – with a number of new features introduced for 2013-14.

These include Six of the Best, a look at half a dozen Villa greats from the Premier League era, from midfielders to managers, from debuts to dramatic finales, plus Villan on the Spot, a question-and-answer session with former players about their time in claret and blue.

Then there’s What’s in a Name? – a quirky double-page spread in which we take all the initials of current Villa players’ names to reveal facts – some well-known, others less so – about each of them.

On This Day, meanwhile, recalls Villa events from dates corresponding with the date of each home match.

We will also be presenting an in-depth player interview in each issue, while there are regular columns from manager Paul Lambert, skipper Ron Vlaar and former Villa striker Stan Collymore.

No programme would be complete, of course, without match reports and photos from our most recent games, and we will also devote space to our under-21 and youth teams, our opponents and the people who matter most to any club – the supporters.

Our Fanzone pages have become increasingly popular over the past few seasons, so keep your photos and stories rolling in.
