Articheck is a condition checking and inventory app for conservators, museums, galleries, public and private collections, auction houses, dealers, insurers, shippers, framers and artists.



These reports provide legal documentation for insurance purposes, and are required by the Government Indemnity Scheme, which provides free insurance to public exhibition spaces. Similar schemes exist abroad. Surprisingly, the art world is still reliant on paper systems involving hundreds of sheets of paper for every exhibition. Each object in an exhibition gets checked when moved, which may be more than a dozen times for a traveling exhibition, including incoming and outgoing checks from the framers, conservators, shippers, and each host museum. These reports are not often linked – each company or institution may produce their own, creating even more paperwork. This is due to language issues and lack of standardisation. Also, conservators or registrars will often have to fill in the same info on a group of works again and again by hand, for example 25 charcoal Picasso’s for the same exhibition from the same lender – this process can be greatly streamlined with batch editing. Articheck will also provide peace of mind to collectors and galleries that their collection or stock is well organised and documented, with an easy inventory function.


Articheck’s Digital Condition Reports will act as a passport for art. We have created new standard symbols, and the reports can be exported to PDF. Future Functions include: reports locked for editing (reducing fraud), added to and translated at each stage of movement and re-examination where required. Reports can be grouped, shared for free via the app.
