Application Description
app112 – a direct line to your guardian angels
app112 is an app that allows an emergency alarm to be raised in eight different ways. The first people to be informed are those closest and personally connected to the app user. Designated family members, friends or neighbours receive an instant text message, e-mail or telephone call when an app112 alarm is raised, alerting them that they need to make immediate contact with the person who raised it. If the situation demands, the designated helpers can then call the emergency services or summon other professional help.
The designated helpers are stipulated when the app is installed and are all contacted simultaneously when an alarm is raised. However they choose to be alerted, they are automatically informed of the current location of the person who has raised the alarm.
** The alarm can be raised as follows:
* By pressing the SOS button
This only works if the app user has the smartphone immediately to hand.
* Countdown
The user sets a timer which, if not deactivated within the designated period, automatically raises the alarm.
* Geo zone
As soon as the smartphone leaves or enters a pre-defined area, the alarm is raised automatically.
* SegFi button
SegFi is an external alarm button connected to your smartphone and to app112. You can install as many SegFi buttons as you wish, and the alarm will be raised each time you press one. By having a number of SegFi buttons distributed around your house, you can make sure that help is always to hand.

* Speech recognition
Once a personal code word or phrase has been defined, such as “I need help” or “emergency call”, app112 will raise an alarm every time these words are used. This even works from a few metres away, meaning that the smartphone doesn't have to be within reach.
*Rhythm recognition
app112 can also respond to a pre-defined rhythm of claps or knocks. If the phone is in a pocket it doesn't even have to be removed - the rhythm can simply be tapped on the outside of the pocket.
* Fall recognition
With the necessary technology (inbuilt sensors that feature in most of the current generation of smartphones), app112 can recognize when a person has fallen over. For this to work, the smartphone needs to be carried in a pocket or handbag.
* Car crash
app112 automatically raises the alarm in the event of a collision and notifies the designated helpers.
