Application Description
ABVote is a voter information platform that provides election information for every U.S. voting residence. It also creates the forms for citizens from each State to apply to register or request an absentee ballot.
No matter where in the U.S. the user might be, it enables:
1. One click to input the user’s current location-- by GPS, LBS (location-based services), or IP address,
2. Locate an upcoming election or most recent past election,
3. Find polling place and opening hours,
4. View map and directions from residence to polling place,
5. Assess the election data—both the contributor and the import date,
6. View the election calendar and optionally set up election alerts,
7. Study the candidates and information on ballot initiatives (one-click Google, VIP, and more), and
8. Contact the user’s local and State election administrators.
Based on the user’s residential voting address, the program populates the relevant forms in the format required by each State. These forms are:
1. Voter Registration Application
2. Absentee Ballot Request
3. Federal Post Card Application (FPCA) for Registration/Absentee Ballot Request for Uniformed and Overseas Voters (UOCAVA)
4. Federal Write-in Absentee Ballot (FWAB) for UOCAVA Voters
5. Full unvoted ballot delivery to UOCAVA Voters whose jurisdictions have contracted for UOCAVA electronic ballot delivery
The users may access the program via smart phones and/or computers. Both mobile app access and web voter access go to a single election administrator back-end management system.
