Like many great things in Austin, 93.7 KLBJ can lay claim to a weird beginning. Left with no music after KLBJ-AM borrowed it all in a memorial to President Lyndon B. Johnson in 1973, the Rock of Austin was born out of an almost desperate attempt by the college-aged staff, who turned to their own record collections in order to broadcast something. 36 years after KLBJ unceremoniously became the first radio station to bring rock music to Austin, it’s still going strong with a playlist that spans five decades of rock, and the award winning Dudley and Bob morning show. Tune in, and rock out!
