Designed for the 1 in 5 Americans who have dyslexia, as well as their families, friends, and the people who support them, the 1in5 Stories App lets you shoot a photo, record up to 30 seconds of your own sound, and easily upload it straight to Explore1in5.org.

It’s the easiest way to share a quick statement with the 1in5 community, done completely from your iPhone or iPad. You can also share what you make with friends and family on Facebook, YouTube, or email.

Start by snapping a picture of yourself, your favorite pet, the last book you read, artwork you’ve done—anything that inspires or motivates you!

Then the app lets you record up to 30 seconds of sound attached to the photo. Here are just a few fun ideas on what you could share:

•Introduce yourself—but don’t include more personal details than you feel comfortable putting out there.

•Give a sentence on your first experience with dyslexia, and how far you’ve come since then.

•Share how you feel about dyslexia—frustrated, hopeful, proud, determined, etc.

•Include your best piece of advice for someone else in your situation, whether that’s another kid or a fellow parent.
