About the Book
Unlucky Star is a collection of 31 essays written by Lu Xun in 1925. Unlucky Star uses the Chinese fortune teller's views on fortune and misfortune, which posit that it's common for commoners to suffer misfortune, as an allegory for the dark reality of the time. Unlucky Star tactfully exposes Lu Xun's resentment and resistance toward traditional Chinese society.
About the Author
Lu Xun was the pen name of Zhou Shuren (1881–1936) and he also had Yucai as his adult courtesy name. Lu was a native of Shaoxing, Zhejiang. He is one of the greatest writers, thinkers, and revolutionists in modern Chinese literature. He is also considered the backbone of the May 4th Movement. His representative works are: A Madman's Diary (colloquial fiction), The True Story of Ah Q (novella), Dawn Blossoms Plucked at Dusk (collected essays of recollections), Call to Arms and Wandering (a collection of short stories).
