Tinte bestond in 1989 vierhonderd jaar en dat was natuurlijk reden voor een feestje. Het plaatselijke Oranjecomité ging stevig aan de slag en het werd een daverend succes: een week lang feest en zelfs wat geld over! Het comité smeedde direct plannen om een vervolg te geven aan het festijn en ziedaar, het jaarlijks terugkerende Zomerfeest was geboren.
