Application Description
This app requires the iWavit "Made for iPhone" Attachment in order for it to work. The iWavit adds extra hardware capabilities to the iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. See www.iwavit.com for more details.
The "iWavit Sky" app turns the iPhone (or iPad or iPod touch) into an IR Remote for controlling Sky TV setup boxes.
Insert the iWavit Attachment into the iPhone/iPod touch/iPad and you will hear a "gun-cocking" sound indicating that the iWavit has paired successfully with the iPhone. Now you are ready to control your Sky TV box.
The iWavit introduces the concept of "Virtual Remotes". iWavit apps are virtual metaphors for Real Remotes. The layout of the buttons is similar to the remote that comes with your Sky TV box. Swipe left-right between 4 screens to get to all the buttons.
Virtual Remotes have several notable benefits over their real-world cousins:
1. Get rid of clutter! You can have any number of virtual remotes without adding to the clutter in your living room.
2. Buttons are large and easy to hit, and easily seen in the easily seen in the dark.
3. You can use the iWavit USB Dongle & IR Lightbar as a wireless IR Extender. This means you can be upstairs and still control your TV downstairs. The RF range is over 300 ft.
All buttons on this remote have pre-programmed IR codes, but you can also reprogram them. You might, for example, prefer to have the Volume buttons control your surround sound system or TV, instead of your Sky TV box. To re-program buttons you hold down the "P"-button while at the same time tapping the button you wish to learn. An IR Learning screen will pop-up and you can now learn the IR code from your old traditional IR Remote and effectively "move" it into this virtual remote. Repeat for each button you want to re-program.
When you press the buttons on the iWavit Sky app, IR signals will be emitted from the front of the iWavit. You will be able to use this Virtual Remote app much as you would a regular Sky TV IR Remote. On top of this, it is possible to use the (optional) iWavit USB dongle and IR Lightbar as a "Wireless IR Extender". Set up is easy. You just hook the iWavit USB dongle with IR Lightbar into ANY powered USB socket. The iWavit USB dongle will automatically configure itself to act like a Wireless IR Extender. (Note: You do not need WiFi or need to worry about network passwords at all). Now when you press a button, you can have IR signals be emitted from the Lightbar instead of the iWavit Attachment. Why? The IR lightbar is about 10x stronger than a normal remote control. This means it can control almost anything in the same room, without requiring line of sight. No more need to point at the device to control. Moreover, you can be over 300 ft away due to the RF link between the USB dongle and the iWavit Attachment.
Pressing the HOME button in the lower left of the front screen will take you to the app called iWavit Flow, if it is installed. This app provides a convenient cover-flow way to navigate between iWavit apps.

For those who wish to create their own custom Remote Controls, we have created the Ultimate Remote Control app called Tabula Rasa (or Tabula Rasa HD for the iPad). With this app you can create your own remotes, download remotes, upload remotes to share them, search our IR database or learn IR codes directly from your old IR remotes. You can even create macros for embedding multiple functions inside a single button.
