This Minimovie portrays several visitors of the theme park Dream City, who talk about their life in Iraq. Stories about fear, the role of ethnicity and religion, hate and violence, but also stories about the future, dreams, courage and hope. This series of portraits paints a probing, almost surreal picture of a country and a population that is completely torn apart. Dream City – Iraq is a film in which elements of music and popular culture are used to explore the possibilities of the genre of documentary filmmaking in this new century. The stories of Iraqi’s daily lives are accompanied by the intense music of the Dutch composer Ralph Mulder (Alamo Race Track & Ghosttrucker), put together in a dreamy collage in which ‘just a day in the park’ floats by as if it were anywhere on the world.
