Daniel Deronda is a novel by George Eliot, first published in 1876. It was the last novel she completed and the only one set in the contemporary Victorian society of her day. Its mixture of social satire and moral searching, along with a sympathetic rendering of Jewish proto-Zionist and Kaballistic ideas has made it a controversial final statement of one of the greatest of Victorian novelists.

Daniel Deronda contains two main plot lines – it begins with the meeting of Daniel Deronda and Gwendolen Harleth in Germany. Daniel finds himself attracted to but wary of the beautiful, stubborn, and selfish Gwendolen, whom he sees lose all her winnings gambling. In despair at her loss, Gwendolen decides to pawn a necklace and debates gambling again to remake her fortune. In a fateful moment, her necklace is returned to her by a porter, and she realizes that somehow Daniel saw her pawn the necklace and redeemed it for her. From this point, the plot breaks off into two separate flashbacks, one which gives us the history of Gwendolen Harleth and one of Daniel Deronda, then reconnects the two parties with stories about their individual and inter-related life experiences and how the two come to discover their true identities.

Daniel Deronda uses the established Standard Works book reader already enjoyed by tens of thousands of users. It's also the same reader which powers our "U.S. Historical Documents" application which received a perfect 10/10 rating from AppCraver.com and was recently featured on the iTunes App Store.

The Standard Works book reader is simple to use, but also contains many advanced features not usually found in other eBook readers. Rather than continually flicking through little pages of text like some book readers, the Standard Works book reader displays an entire chapter or book at once for you convenience. The text can even automatically scroll for you in both portrait and landscape modes while reading. You can even highlight important words or phrases using the absolute best highlighting system available on the iPhone platform. Create notes for each paragraph which can be displayed inline and assign bookmarks to any paragraph in any book for future reference. And if that's not enough, quickly and easily find any text from any book with the fastest and most powerful search engine available on the iPhone.

The Standard Works book reader contains the following main features:
